|
There were several major battles fought between the Americans and Japanese to decide who capture and hold the island and who would have to leave. With so much at stake, each of these were costly and hard conflicts that tested each side’s commitment and courage. While there were several additional battles, the following were the ones that had the greatest influence over the outcome of this monumental conflict.
